Make an
impact today

When you choose to give, you become part of something bigger—something powerful.

YGBM is positioned to fill this gap by operating not as a clinical provider or crisis response entity, but as a community-based mental health initiative that integrates prevention, connection, and conversation into the fabric of the game itself. By leveraging the natural structure of golf time between shots, shared rounds, and a culture that already acknowledges imperfection the organization creates accessible, low-barrier opportunities for individuals to engage in meaningful dialogue, reflect on their mental well-being, and connect with resources.

Rather than duplicating the work of existing mental health and suicide prevention organizations, YGBM is designed to complement and extend their reach. Through partnerships with established entities such as crisis lines, advocacy organizations, and local behavioral health providers, the organization will serve as a bridge—bringing awareness, education, and resource connection into a setting where individuals are already gathered, but not traditionally reached. This includes integrating national resources like the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline into on-course materials, events, and campaigns, as well as collaborating with regional partners to ensure pathways to care are clear and accessible.

The opportunity within the golf community lies not only in its size, but in its consistency and culture. Golf courses function as recurring gathering spaces where individuals return regularly, creating a powerful platform for sustained engagement rather than one-time interventions. By embedding mental health awareness into these environments, YGBM has the potential to normalize conversations, reduce stigma, and support early intervention in a way that complements existing systems of care.

In doing so, the organization occupies a distinct and underdeveloped niche within the broader mental health landscape—one that focuses on meeting people where they are, leveraging shared experience, and transforming a familiar recreational setting into a space for connection, support, and improved mental well-being.

Funding

YGBM will utilize a diversified funding model designed to support sustainable delivery while maintaining flexibility in early growth. Why now

The timing for YGBM is uniquely aligned with a convergence of cultural, social, and system-level factors that are reshaping how mental health is understood and addressed. Across the United States, demand for mental health support continues to rise, while traditional systems remain strained by workforce shortages, access barriers, and increasing acuity. As a result, there is growing recognition that prevention, early intervention, and community-based approaches must play a larger role in supporting mental well-being.

At the same time, public discourse around mental health and suicide prevention has shifted significantly. Stigma is decreasing, and individuals (particularly younger generations) are more open to conversations about emotional well-being. However, this shift has not fully translated across all populations. Many individuals, especially men and those in socially traditional environments, remain less likely to engage with formal mental health services, creating a critical gap between awareness and action.

Parallel to these trends, there is increasing momentum toward meeting people where they are and integrating mental health into everyday environments such as workplaces, schools, and community spaces. Yet recreational and social settings like golf, where millions of individuals regularly gather, remain largely untapped as platforms for meaningful mental health engagement.

YGBM emerges at this intersection where need is high, stigma is shifting, and the field is ready for innovative, community-based models. By embedding mental health awareness and connection into the lived experience of the golfers and the golf community, the organization is positioned to act now, leveraging both increased openness and existing infrastructure to drive meaningful, preventative impact.
